Starting September 1, 2025, Texas’s “Move Over or Slow Down” law now includes Animal Control vehicles and parking citation vehicles, requiring drivers to move to a non-adjacent lane or slow to 20 mph below the speed limit when passing them with activated lights. This expansion, driven by Senate Bill 305, aims to protect roadside workers, including Animal Control Officers, and was enacted partly in response to tragic accidents involving officers on busy roadways.
